Tenor   Mr. Sam Kan

Chung-fai Sam Kan began his vocal lessons with Miss Ella Kiang. Having become the Fellow of Trinity College of Music, he continued his music studies at the McGill University of Canada with Professor Jan Simon and Miss Katherine Anderson.  Upon receiving his Bachelor of Music, Kan began launching his performing career, and has since toured with Montreal Opera Chorus and The Tudor Singers for five years. While in Montreal, he performed a lot of religious music, including works by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Haydn andChung-fai Sam Kan began his vocal lessons with Miss Ella Kiang. While in Montreal, he performed a lot of religious music, including works by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn. 

Since returning to Hong Kong, Kan has given recitals, radio recordings and performances as a soloist.  He has also studied with Mr. Michael G. Rippon. His major performances in the last three years included Huang An Lun's world premiere of the Requiem, Haydn's The Seasons, and Bach's Magnificat with the Hong Kong Oratorio Society, Recital in French at the Lee Hysan Hall, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Hong Kong SAR Philharmonic Orchestra, and Bach's Cantata # 61 with the University of Hong Kong Choir. He is now a part-time vocal instructor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

His forthcoming concerts include Haydn's The Creation (in German) with the Opera Society of Hong Kong this November, a concert in Shanghai by the Shanghai Normal University this December, and a fundraising concert for the School of Professional and Continuing Education, the University of Hong Kong in June 2008.

簡頌輝 (男高音) 曾隨江樺女仕習唱。考獲英國聖三一學院院士後,赴加拿大滿地可麥基爾大學隨楊西敏教授及安德遜女仕進修聲樂。獲取學士學位後考入『市立歌劇』及『唱遊者』等職業合唱團,參與演出達五年。居加其間簡氏兼任聖公會主教坐堂,及猶太Emanu-El-Beth Sholom會堂之領唱員,演唱巴赫、莫札特、韓德爾、海頓、及孟德爾頌等作曲家之作品。
 
返港後,簡氏曾隨Mr. Michael G. Rippon習唱,亦不時舉行獨唱會,多次獲邀為社團及教會演唱及參與電台錄音。過去叁年簡氏主要演出包括:與香港聖樂團演出海頓「四季」、巴哈的「聖母頌主曲」,於香港中文大學利希慎堂演出法文歌曲獨唱會,與香港愛樂管弦樂團演出貝多芬「第九交響樂」,及與香港大學合唱團演出巴哈「清唱劇」編號61。簡氏現為中文大學半職聲樂導師。未來演出包括2007年11月與香港歌劇社演出海頓德文版「創世紀」,12月下旬獲邀往上海師範大學演出,及2008年6月為香港大學專業進修學院籌款音樂會演出等。

Mr Sam Kan will be our tenor soloist at the Opera Society of Hong Kong's 15th Anniversary Concert singing Die Schöpfung (The Creation) by Joseph Haydn on 20 November 2007.
